Injuries Catching Receivers

Athens — It’s a good thing Georgia carried at least a dozen receivers into camp because, at the rate they’re faliing out, they might still have two left for the season opener.

Thursday night was just the fourth practice of the preseason for the Bulldogs, but that was enough time to sideline three wideouts. Redshirt freshman Walter Hill broke his right hand Wednesday and is looking at three to six weeks of recovery. Fellow redshirt freshman Israel Troupe has a hyperextended elbow, wrist and shoulder, all on his right side, and will be out at least for a few days. Then Thursday, junior flanker Michael Moore went out with a pulled hamstring.

Fortunately for the Bulldogs, freshman A.J. Green came back from a groin injury suffered Monday.

“We should be all right because we always like to bring a lot of receivers into camp,” coach Mark Richt said. “It never helps missing reps but at least most of those guys have enough experience that they won’t be lost when they come back.”
